So, finally you have decided to play Cricket Game. Before you begin allow me to share some basic information of the game of cricket with you. Cricket is a team game. It is played between the two teams. Each team has eleven players in it. Several hundred years old bat and ball game, which is popularly known as cricket today, is played on a ground that is elliptical in shape. The 22 yards long flat strip in the center of the ground is called pitch.

First of all, captains of the two teams toss to decide which team will bat first. Two players from the batting side go out and occupy the crease at both the ends of the pitch. These two players are called batsmen. One player from the opposite side also known as bowling side delivers a ball from the one end of the pitch towards the other. Wicket is a set of three wooden stumps is placed on both the sides of the pitch. Each batsman keeps a wooden bat in his hands so that he can stop the ball from hitting the wickets. At the same time other batsman at the other end just stands and watches. This inactive partner is called non-striker batsman.

The result of the game generally depends on the two factors. The number of runs scored and number of wickets lost. To play cricket game efficiently, you must learn the art of making runs. In cricket a run is scored by striking the ball with the bat and then running to the other end of the pitch. When a batsman scores a run in this way he exchanges his place with his fellow batsman. The objective of the batting team is to score as many runs as possible. On the other hand players from the fielding side try to stop the ball and hit it at the wickets. If any fielder hits the wickets while the player was still out of its crease the batsman said to be out.

When you go out to play cricket game, you should know that there are some other ways also to get a batsman out. For example failing to stop the ball bowled by the bowler from hitting his wickets or hitting the ball straight in to the hands of a fielder. When a batsman gets out, other player from the batting side immediately comes out to take his place. At any point of time two players from the batting side must remain on the pitch to continue the game. So, with the departure of tenth batsman the innings is called over. Now, the players from the fielding team come out to start their innings.

The number of innings to be played is decided before two teams go out to play cricket game. In some type of matches there is restriction as how many balls will be bowled in an innings. When the match is over, team who scored more runs is declared the winning team.
